By Randal L. Dabbs, MD, FACEP, FAAFP, Co-Founder and President, Practice Development
As the Executive Sponsor, I was fortunate to host the National Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) Council of TeamHealth on May 16 and 17 in Knoxville for its annual in-person meeting. I formed the Council in 2012 to serve as a voice for all APCs within TeamHealth, which include physician assistants, nurse practitioners and certified registered nurse anesthetist leaders from all service lines and specialties across the country. Their mission is to improve engagement, develop best practices, improve collaboration and advocate for every APC.
2023 Officer Elections
At the meeting, Nicole Hubbard, Regional Chief CRNA at Tampa General Hospital, transitioned her Chair position to Jeffrey Coffman, PA-C, who is the Lead APC at MOES in Columbus, Ohio. “I am honored to be elected Chair by my peers,” said Coffman. “The APC Council has worked directly with TeamHealth leaders for over a decade advancing our profession and role within the company. Dr. Dabbs offers us tremendous support and respect. This council represents over 6,000 APCs within TeamHealth and is made up of leaders from all regions. We all left Knoxville energized ready to continue building a strong team of APCs.”
- Chairperson: Jeff Coffman, PA-C, MOES, Lead APC, Emergency Medicine

2023 APC Council Annual Conference
Featured speakers for the event included, Vice President, Communications, as well as many of the other Council members.
The primary emphasis of the conference was better engagement and onboarding to help improve retention. Brand transformation, behavioral health, collaboration, executive command and execution of crucial conversations were also topics of discussion. As usual, the group was enthusiastic and super engaged, with some even showing off their bowling skills during a fun team-building activity.
TeamHealth’s APC Council
The APC Council is a vital component of TeamHealth. The leadership, energy and collegiality among the Council serves to strengthen the role of APCs within TeamHealth and ultimately improves the care we provide patients nationwide.
