By Jason Powell, Manager, Recruitment Operations/Residency Relations, and Co-Chair, TeamHealth Veterans Affinity Group
As we celebrate Memorial Day this weekend, the members of the TeamHealth Veterans Affinity Group would like to take a moment to remember those who have given their life in military service. We also thank the veterans who served alongside them and who are helping keep their memories alive today.
The real message for this holiday is about honoring the sacrifices of our fallen heroes. We can never deserve the gifts that they have bestowed on us or repay the ultimate sacrifices they have made. But, our greatest contribution is to live our lives in a way that honors those who gave everything for this country.
As a veteran, like most people, I talk about the value of hard work and strive to achieve my goals. But, the three greatest blessings in my life − my family, my faith and my freedoms − are associated with being an American. For me, these are a result of the ultimate sacrifice willingly given by others for me. I am forever grateful and will never forget the men and women who helped preserve our freedoms.
This Memorial Day will be celebrated in a multitude of ways all over this great country, from barbecues and parades, to quietly visiting graveyards and war monuments. However you are celebrating this Memorial Day, please take a moment to remember and honor those who have died while serving this country.
