How is TeamHealth Committed to Recruiting and Retaining Veterans?
Employers in many industries value veterans for their leadership, teamwork and problem-solving abilities. These employee traits are also important to TeamHealth and to our parent group Blackstone. As a 21-year veteran of the United States Air Force I am proud to announce that TeamHealth has joined other Blackstone portfolio companies in a commitment to recruit, hire and retain highly-qualified veterans, veteran spouses and caregivers across our organization.
There is a compelling business case for hiring veterans. It has been shown that hiring vets build goodwill and honors their service, and recruiting veterans reflects the social responsibility of an employer and builds goodwill with customers, employees and the community. Former service members are performance-oriented, have a strong work ethic and thrive under pressure. Teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills learned in the military are suitable for many civilian roles. Veterans receive advanced training in a variety of technical skills, and military spend in these skills make veterans cost-effective employees.
TeamHealth is establishing a focused program that will not only focus on recruiting veterans for current and future openings, but also on retaining and honoring our current veteran employees. Additionally, we plan to create a mentorship program for veterans transitioning into a career with TeamHealth. We will also partner current veteran employees with newly on-boarded vets to help ease the transition from military service to civilian employment. The training of hiring managers on how to read a military resume and how to conduct an interview with potential candidates with military service in their background is another focus area for this new program. In all, TeamHealth recognizes the value of our nation’s veterans and seeks to leverage that talent pool to help strengthen our organization.
Veterans, their spouses and caregivers are a great fit at TeamHealth because of our shared values: leadership, integrity and teamwork. We are excited to formalize our efforts to recruit and retain the great men and women who have served our country.
