Lawrence Hum, MD

Dr. Lawrence Hum serves as president of TeamHealth Care Transformation and Innovation. Dr. Hum leads TeamHealth’s growth and strategic initiatives supporting virtual care and care transformation and innovation. His focus is alternative care delivery and technology-enabled care transformation. Dr. Hum works closely with clients to ensure healthy business relationships and lead all aspects of the group’s business, including:
- financial solvency and revenue generation
- clinician relations
- organizational development
He is a highly accomplished strategic leader with more than 25 years of experience as an emergency medicine physician. His passion for patient experience has an extraordinary impact on TeamHealth.
He joined TeamHealth in 2017 through the acquisition of Emergency Medicine Consultants. Prior to his current role, he served as chief medical officer of EMC of TeamHealth and medical director at Acute Care Transitions. Among his many accomplishments as CMO of EMC of TeamHealth, he developed communication pathways between clinicians and facility partners to engage our leaders and created a culture of teamwork. He led a 22-hospital system to the 95th percentile in Press Ganey among health systems nationally. As a practicing emergency medicine physician, he led by example with 100% Press Ganey patient experience results for several continuous years. He volunteered his time and expertise to help develop TeamHealth’s proprietary patient experience program, APEX, which was modeled after the nationally recognized program pioneered at EMC.
Dr. Hum earned his medical degree from Chicago Medical School and completed his residency in emergency medicine at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California.
