Robert Strauss, MD

As a physician with more than 40 years of emergency medicine and leadership expertise, Dr. Robert Strauss is charged with advancing TeamHealth’s clinical leadership programs and overseeing continuing medical education and residency relation programs. Dr. Strauss joined TeamHealth in 2004 and has since served as vice president of program and professional development.
Dr. Strauss is a senior director for the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a past chair of the Residency Review Committee for Emergency Medicine. He also directs the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Emergency Department Directors Academy (EDDA), a four phase training and certification program.
He is the chief editor and contributor to McGraw-Hill’s Strauss and Mayer’s Emergency Department Management, and he hosts the TeamHealth podcast, Beyond Clinical Medicine. In addition, he has given more than 800 national lectures and is a regular presenter for ACEP’s national conferences. Dr. Strauss has been honored with several ACEP awards, including the James D. Mills Outstanding Contribution to Emergency Medicine Award, Outstanding Speaker Award, and Hero of Emergency Medicine Award.
He received his undergraduate degrees at the University of Pennsylvania and medical degree at the University of Cincinnati. Upon completion of his emergency medicine residency training at the University of Chicago, he became a member of the faculty as program director and vice chair of the department.
