As a proven leader, Stan Thompson, MD, MHA, FACEP, lends his wealth of knowledge and skills to the company as chief clinical officer for the TeamHealth LifePoint Group. Dr. Thompson strategically develops and facilitates initiatives related to patient experience, quality and safety, service line growth, new program development, service improvement and other LifePoint clinical initiatives, and works directly with designated LifePoint Health leadership to promote a strong and mutually beneficial partnership. Dr. Thompson also serves as the executive leader for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and serves as chair of TeamHealth’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Dr. Thompson came to TeamHealth in 2000 as an emergency medicine physician and began in leadership as assistant facility medical director in 2000, then as a facility medical director in 2003 and regional medical director in 2013 prior to becoming a CCO. During his tenure, he was named Central Group’s Facility Medical Director of the Year and Midwest Group’s Regional Medical Director of the Year.
Dr. Thompson received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Emory University in Atlanta. Additionally, Dr. Thompson earned his master’s in healthcare administration at Penn State University, and his certificate in diversity and inclusion from Cornell University.
